Losing connection to internet randomly after updates
Since I have done the last updates shortly after I turn on my computer and have been on the internet for a few minutes, my computer completely looses connection with the internet. I can not even log into my router by typing in the ip address. First I thought it was something with the router, so I unplugged it and waited a minute then plugged it back in with no luck. The only way I can get it to connect to the internet again is to disable the network adapter and renable it again, then it works fine the rest of the day. I have windows 7 on 2 different computers (one at home, and one at work) and both have been doing the same thing since the updates.

Almost sounds like a driver issue. Any idea what updates were installed? By any chance is your home computer and work computer using the same brand network card?Have you tried un-installing the network card driver and restarting the computer and let Windows re-detect and re-installing the drivers? Also might try an earlier version of the network card drivers, may have to go the manufacturer's site and download a Vista compatible version.Another thought would be to try a system restore. Restoring to a point in time prior to the updates.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, have you had any luck solving it yet? I've tried uninstalling, different pcs etc. Like you say, the only way is to disable / enable the network adaptor. Can you let me know if you have any success? Thanks Andy

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one seeing the connection drop suddenly while you know you have a solid connection to begin with. If you have another browser installed and that connects to the home page while IE doesm't one solution is to go into the Control Panel>Internet Options>connection tab and click on setup rather then using the network troubleshooter.Once in the setup simply click on the "connect now" option seen there to instantly see your home page open up. The tip here is not to simply right click on the IE shortcut if you made one for the desktop but go into the Control Panel first. Somehow that seems to refurbish the IE 8 beta version seen in 7 using that method. All I can say is give it a try to see you see things clear up.

I was having the same problem. For example, woking great at the office using the wired adaptor, but quits working when back home using the WiFi. My solution that seems to work is to disable the wired adaptor when using WiFi & disabling the WiFI when using the wired adaptor.
