Lose WAN connection on router when connecting with Windows 7 over wireless
I loaded Windows 7 x64 on a spare drive on my HP dv2940se laptop. All the devices were recognized and drivers loaded just fine. I tried connecting to my wireless network with the laptop. As soon as the system tries to connect to my Linksys WRT110 wireless router, the router loses the WAN connection to my cable modem. At first I didn't know what was going on. I shut down the laptop and tried resetting my cable modem, router and desktop pc and the router still did not have a working WAN connection to the cable modem. If I plugged my desktop directly into the cable modem, my net connection worked fine. After many hours I tried cloning my PC's MAC address in the router and I was able to get a connection working again. I never had to do this before and I've been running with this router for many months. At this point I still did not know what went wrong. The only thing that changed in my network config was the loading of Windows 7 on my laptop. Not seeing how this would be the cause of the router losing the WAN connection I set out to prove myself wrong. I set my desktop to download a large file (3.8GB iso) from the internet and let it run for 10 minutes or so. Everything was fine at this point so I booted the laptop with Windows 7 and tried connecting to my wireless network. I immediately lost connection to the internet on my desktop and could not even get into my router over the desktop's wired connection. I rebooted the desktop and tried to access the router again with no luck. The laptop was still on and trying to connect. I stopped trying to connect via wireless on the laptop but still couldn't get into the router. I rebooted my desktop again and could now access the router. I checked the router and it had no IP from the cable modem. I reset the router and checked it again, it now had an IP and I could access the internet on the desktop. I went through the same procedure again (start download, boot laptop, connect via wireless) and the same behavior occurred. After the second time I put the original Vista x64 Home Premium hard drive back into the laptop. I started the procedure again and had no problems. Swapping the Windows 7 drive back into the laptop and trying again yielded the same results. All the components in my systems are up to date including the firmware on the router.Does anyone have any ideas what is going on? I didn't try using the ethernet connection on the laptop to see if it worked ok yet, I needed a break before having to deal with this again.

B1tter_End,Would you please try connecting your Windows7 laptop to the Ethernet port of your router and check if you see the same behavior? Please reply back with the results and we will take it from there.Thanks,-alok.

spectralveil,It sounds like your problem is different in that the router does not lose connectivity. The issue appears to be localized to the Windows7 machine. Please run Windows Update and confirm that you are running the latest updates for your wireless network adapters. If you have the latest updates and you are still seeing problems, please reply with: --- make/model of the Wi-Fi card. You can get this by typing "netsh wlan sho dr" on the command prompt ----make/model of your Wi-Fi router --- problem symptoms and reproduction steps for problem to happen Thanks,Alok ManchandaMicrosoft Corporation

I ended up uninstalling the Beta after trying to deal with this issue and decided to give it another shot once the Win 7 RC candidate came out. After loading the RC I don't see the same issue as I did with the Beta.
