Lose User settings after reboot
We are testing Win 7 RC and really like it a lot. One thing we have run across is we build a clean system and log in, join domain. The user will in this case the IT folks will start to profile thier machine and install applications. When they are asked to reboot after an install they will and when they log in all thier customizations are gone the background, desktop icons and so on. Is there a way to stop this? Thanks

Mitch - I've got Windows 7 joined to a Win 2K Server domain - without any issues. I can reboot without losing settings, desktop, icons, etc... What customizations are they doing? Better still, how are they profiling the systems?

Just simple stuff like logging in changing thier desktop and adding desktop icons. I have not had this error when I built my Win 7 and joined it to a 2003 domain. But I have seen it happen. No speacial setup just you know personalizing it.

I am using Win 7 64-bit release and am seeing this issue. It's driving me crazy. It is a brand new Dell T1500 with Win 7 64-bit Professional. Booted up, Joined our domain, did some personalization and upon re-boot all settings are lost including a lot of registry settings. Can anyone from Microsoft help me here or provide a phone number to call in without having to pay?

I got the same prob. It is really annoying. Several things happen after every reboot: 1) icons are being moved, 2) extended display activated (though I don't have a second, 3) grafic card settings chnaged. These are the ones I have noticed, could be more to it? OS: Win7 Ult. 64b final release Profile: Local User type: Admin GPU: HD 5870 + Catalyst 9.11 EDIT: it could be the "close-down-gadget", deleted it & shut down normally, seemed to work but wait and see... EDIT: nope, it did not work. same troubles again.

We still see the issue with the released version I have had to delete all profiles and have the user log back in to get a stable profile.
