Loosing the Default Gateway settings
Happens now and then. I'm not sure why. Loses the Default Gateway settings. I click to repair and it fixes it. After the first "fix", Windows reported it was the Default Gateway.Anyone else see this? = Stephen Cox

Yes, I'm having the same issue. The troubleshooter then resets the network adapter and fixes it but it happens again at random times.

When this happens again, can you Select the Start Button, Type CMD in the search box and press enter. A black box appears.Type in IPCONFIG and Press EnterWhat does the Gateway address show? What does it have for your IP Address. If your skill sets are a little more advanced with windows, can you also type in:ROUTE PRINT and post the results to this thread? Thanks,Joe

Be sure to also check yourDHCP Server as well. If you are using DHCP. As Windows receives it's TCPIP information from the DHCP server. And windowscould be renewing the lease and receiving bad information...Not a high probability but still possible.Bruce

I'm having the same issue. Seems to be 'use' related. Do something offline for hours and never have a problem but open a browser and after surfing for a few minutes it will drop the Default Gateway. If I use my laptop in the living room to watch a vid that's on a shared folder on this computer after a few minutes the DG will drop.

I have the same problem, and when i go into the CMD and type in ipconfig it says Default Gateway: : :its literally ::I am useing a Nvidia nForce Network Controller. I do agree with j9darking that it does happen on use related occasions when you are on a certain web pages with macro media flash. I'm not sure what the problem is but it seems to happening to people with the Nvidia nForce. This was not a problem when i had Windows Vista, and i hope it is fixed soon so if anyone has any tips please post them

I have the same problem. My system is an intel motherboard with dual ethernet. The 1 ethernet port doesn't install and the other one drops the gateway settings. Mine doen't happen now and then...it happens all the time. I type in the gateway setting and press OK, when I check again it has lost the setting. It keeps all the other network settings. How can I fix this?

I've seen this problem pop up since windows 7 beta. it's the network adapters power setting. Goto: device manager > network adapters > "select your adapter" and right click for properties. go to the Power Management tap and uncheck the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" worked for me,
