Long time to login to Windows 7 Pro on Domain Network
I have a user with problems when logging to Windows 7 Pro x64 on domain network with Windows 2003 Server. After entering password that screen hangs on "welcome" and nothing happens few 5 or more minutes, and when Windows load the desktop screen background is black and it seemed as if windows loaded a different desktop icons (none of the shortcuts the user created appear on the desktop screen). This issue has been going on for the past few weeks and does not happen all the time. Once I restart the computer everything goes back to normal and the user can login and the desktop screen load with shortcut...etc. Not sure what is causing this problem. I noticed that the user profile is about 5.7 GB so not sure if that is normal. The PC is dell T7500 with 12GB of memory and Xeon processor. Thanks...B

Hi, Thanks for the post! A large roaming profile could cause the slow login on. Try to reduce the roaming files size then check if speed up. Meanwhile, you can open the Event Viewer, navigate to: Applications and Services Logs – Microsoft – Windows – Diagnostics-Performance – Operational Find the Task Category: Boot Performance Monitoring, Event ID 100 Check the details to find which slow down the logon speed.
