Logon takes minutes to hours if offline files are enabled.
If I make files available offline and later try to log on, it could take up to hours at "folder redirection..." It seems that all offline files are resynced which could take minutes to hours depending on how many files are available. I have this issue on multiple computers and different user accounts and on different domains, all with Windows 7 RTM x64.So I had to disable offline files. But what could I do ? How to prefent Win7 from resyncing all offline files during logon?

Hi,When syncing the Offline files, Windows looks at the network copy to check the filess' data and time stamp. It only syncs the updated files by time stamp and does not sync all offline files. If you would like to logon quicker, we can modify Offline files to be Synced at a Scheduled Time . For more information, please refer to the link below:Make Offline Files to be Synced at a Scheduled Time Please Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. After weeks, I found the reason. It seems to be a bug in the folder redirection in windows 7.If "Music" is redirectet to a network location by Group Policy (either direct or inderect by following "User Files") the logon process takes about 30 Minutes longer with message "applying folder redirection..." This could also bee seen in events. For example you have the entry for redirectin pictures and 30 Minutes later you have the entry for music. This happens only if offline files are enabled. Size and count of files does not affect the logon duration. Even if the music folder or all redirected folders are empty it takes minutes. So the solution is disabling offline files or redirecting the music folder manual and not by group policy. After the first logon after disabling the redirection it takes a long time, but after this the logon time takes seconds instead of minutes.

My problem is defiantly not Music redirection but the fact that almost every time the user wants to logon offline files does a sync check and takes far too long and holds up the logon process. Why can't it do that while the user is logon in the background, is there any way of forcing behaviour? It’s becoming a real problem for using with large user areas that are administratively made available offline.
