Logon failure: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
I have a three computers networked, two XP Pro and one XP home. The XP Pros can see each other on file sharing but neither can see the files on the XP home box. The XP home can see both XP Pro boxes files just fine. All three are on the same network Mshome, and I tried setting the same user name and password on one xp pro and the xp home with no positive results. On the firewall exceptions tab, all have file and print sharing checked. On the xp pro I unchecked simple file sharing. I don't see what else to do. Any help would be appreciated.1 person needs an answerI do too

Here's a detailed answer for several Windows versions. Follow the steps for XP Home Edition: ====================================================================== The problem and the solution are on the computer that can't be accessed. If that computer has Windows XP, run the Network Setup Wizard -- that's often all that's needed. If that doesn't fix the problem, keep reading. If the computer that can't be accessed runs Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Business, or Windows Vista Ultimate: 1. Click Start > Run , type secpol.msc in the box, and click OK . 2. Click Local Policies . 3. Click User Rights Assignment . 4. Click Access this computer from the network and make sure that the Everyone group is included. 5. Click Deny access to this computer from the network and make sure that the Everyone group is NOT included. If the computer that can't be accessed runs Windows XP Home Edition or Windows Vista Home Premium, the "secpol.msc" program isn't available. To make the required user rights assignments: 1. Download and install the Windows 2003 Server Resource Kit Tools . 2. Click Start > All Programs > Windows Resource Kit Tools . 3a. For Windows XP, click Command Shell . 3b. For Windows Vista, right-click Command Shell and click Run as administrator . 4. Type these lines at the command prompt exactly as shown (case sensitive): net user guest /active:yes ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Guest ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Guest 5. For Windows Vista, type these lines: ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Everyone ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Everyone Boulder Computer Maven Microsoft Most Valuable Professional
