Login Twice after Waking from Sleep
I'm running into problems with users sometimes being prompted to login twice when their computer after their computer has been in sleep mode. It seems like the computers need to have been asleep for several hours for this problem to show. I'm seeing it on several different models of Dell computers (Optiplex 620, Optiplex 170L, Vostro 200) under both the x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7 Enterprise. The first time they login, Windows displays a "Welcome" message like it is starting to logon but after about 3 seconds it decides to log them back off again. They're again presented with the login screen. If they login again, everything works OK this time. I checked the system logs and do see entries in the Security log showing the logon/logoff from the first and second attempts, but nothing else anywhere in the logs that seemed to suggest a possible cause. I've had this problem show whether or not it was joined to a domain; it didn't matter if it was a domain or local account or even what level of privileges the account had. The problem has shown up on bare installations that just had Windows and nothing else on them. I've tried using the drivers Windows auto-installed on its own as-is; I've tried updating everything to the most recent version. It also doesn't seem to matter whether or not the screen saver is enabled. For security reasons, it's important that users be prompted for username/password when the computer resumes from sleep, so the fix of not requiring the password that has been suggested to other people with this problem (like this one ) does not work for me. It seems like this might be an underlying bug in Windows 7 itself. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

I have the exact same issue on Optiplex 755/760s and Windows 7 Enterprise x32. Any luck in finding a solution?

We have a computer suite of 16 Dell Optiplex 780's and they all have this exact same issue when waking from sleep. Very strange, all machines are Windows 7 Pro that all came preinstalled from Dell. All machines are on a domain, and the issue happens with AD or local accounts. Anyone got any ideas? Seems to be either a dell issue, or a Windows 7 bug.

We have seen this exact same issue with our Windows 7 and Dell 620 Optiplex-780 Optiplex computers.

That's interesting because we have the same situation. We also have Dell Optiplex 620's through 780's and have this problem. The user logs in (thinks their logged in) and the next second they are back at press CTRL - ALT - DEL. We've checked the event logs but the only thing that shows up once in a while is that the network connection is resetting. It's slightly troubling that most everyone on this post is using Dells..... EDIT - we are using Windows 7

See my thread here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproinstall/thread/83c1bae2-2335-4fbc-b299-5be2eb621389 This issue is a regression introduced with an udpate you probably have installed. My thread above explains.
