Logging On To An 8.1 System From 7

Hi friends,

I have recently got the Windows 8.1 (64-Bit) installed on one of my laptops, while the other laptop of mine has Windows 7 (32-Bit) installed on the same. From Win 8.1 machine I have a complete access of C drive of Win 7 machine via the simple usual command of: \\Win7MachineName\C$ and thereafter providing the Win 7's Username & Password on the dialog box appearing so.

However, in the opposite case, i.e. when I run the \\Win81MachineName\C$ on the PC with Win 7, the particulars I provide for username, i.e. LIVE's email account on which I have the Windows 8.1 set and installed, and its password, the same are declared to be incorrect!

What could be the perfect LogIn UserName & Password in this case? In other words how can I access the files on Win 8.1 (64 Bit) from a machine with Win 7 (32 Bit)?

Hi,

Do you have a local account instead of a live account on Windows 8 system? You can create one and use that account to access with \\win81machinename\c$. I assume a live account will not work as in remote logon it cannot be recognized.

You could try using MicrosoftAccount as the domain name, i.e. MicrosoftAccount\user@outlook.com
