Locking user desktop background with slideshow enabled
After enabling "Prevent changing desktop background" on my Windows 7 Group Policy Editor, it locks the user to the specific theme & desktop background I want, but the slideshow feature becomes disabled. How can I disallow users from changing my preset theme for them but still allow the desktop slideshow feature to run properly? I'm in a library setting and don't want users on public computers to change the wallpaper or any other visual settings as the machines are used to display local art when not in use. Thanks!

Hi Matt, You need to create a theme file and deploy it through group policy. Hi Rafic. Thanks for the advice. I was able to create and properly apply a theme through group policy with the discussion thread you linked to, but I ran into two problems: 1. The forced theme only applies for new users at first login. I cannot apply/switch to a different theme for existing users through group policy. 2. Once I enable "Prevent changing desktop background" in group policy, the slideshow feature seems to be disabled. It freezes on one background image insead. I'd really like to be able to apply/switch themes for existing users at any time and lock the theme in with slideshow enabled. Any advice? Thanks! MattDiGi

Hi, Based my research, we may not be able to achieve this. Slideshow feature is a way of changing background actually. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support
