Locked out of the only administrator account
I run Vista x32 Home Premium and until recently used a single administrator account on the PC. This was fine as only used by close family. Unfortunately my son set up an additional administrator account which he then subsequently reduced to a Standard account. Since then I cannot log into my administrator account as I keep getting the following message: "Your account has time restrictions that prevent you from logging on at this time. Please try again later." It won't let me log in to Windows. When I log into my sons standard account and try to do something that requires an administrator password, there isn't a text box on the pop up form which asks for a password to continue. Current situation is that I do not have any administrator access to my PC. Am I going to have to reinstall Vista? Any help gratefuly received. Nick

Nafr It sounds like someone also changed your Administrator account to a Standard User acount. The 'time restrictions' sounds like Parental Controls are also set on the account. Open Control Panel, click on Classic View in the Tasks Pane. Double click User Accounts. Your account status should be displayed there. Under the accounts picture, it will the type of account, Administrator or Standard. What does your account show? If it shows as a standard account, then this is the problem. In Vista, if there are no administrator accounts on the system, it is designed to show the Built-in Administrator account when you log into Safe Mode. This is the safety net in case all administrator accounts are gone. Perform the following. Log into Safe Mode. To do this, reboot the computer and press and hold the F8 key until a black screen with a menu displays. Use the Arrow Keys to select Safe Mode and press the Enter key. Be patient, it will take the system several minutes to load in safe mode. When the login screen appears, you should see an account called 'Administrator', this account does not have a password associated with it, by default. Select this account and press Enter to log in. Again, be patient, it will take a few minutes. Once the Desktop is displayed, go to Control Panel / User Accounts. Click the 'Manage another account' option. On the next screen, select the account you normally use and click the 'Change the account type' option. In the next screen, click the 'Administrator' option and then click the 'Change account type' button. Exit everything and reboot the computer. When the login screen appears log in with the account you just changed.
