You will need to explain what you mean by "locked out" first. What user accounts are on the system and what version of XP do you have - Home/Pro/Media Center?MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Is this a corporate laptop on a domain? If yes, see your IT Dept. Also see this MS Knowledge Base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818078 If this is a home machine not on a domain, log into the built-in Administrator account and make your changes. Do Ctrl-Alt-Del at the Welcome Screen and enter "Administrator" (without the quotes) and whatever password you assigned. If you never assigned a password, leave it blank. Check your lockout policy per this article: http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Implementing-Troubleshooting-Account-Lockout.htmlMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
