Locked folder MKLINK
Hi There Slightly strange one, this worked fine on my old machine until replacing it (Like for like OS Windows 7 Ulti - 64Bit) I have a NAS and I map it to Z:\ using the username and password of the main admin account Then I MKLINK /D the Z:\ to C:\NAS This allows me to back up to the cloud using software as it simulates a local folder. The mapped network drive and UNC dont have any locked symbols on the folders (The NAS is unix based - Netgear ReadyNas). however the linked folder on C:\NAS has the symbol next to each folder therefore not allowing the software to see the files. I have an idetical Windows 7 Ultimate - 64Bit mahcine (my old pc) and it doesn't do it on that? Thanks in Advance Dave

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. The MKLINK default is a file symbolic link instead of folder. Best Regards Magon Liu TechNet Subscriber Support in forum. The MKLINK default is a file symbolic link instead of folder. Thanks for your response, I am using the /D command to link as a folder, as noted in the original post Then I MKLINK /D the Z:\ to C:\NAS i.e mklink /d c:\NAS z:\ also tried it straight to unc too.

Hello There issue turned out to be the permissions as the NAS is unix based. However I never got to the bottom of why it didn't happen on the old machine running the same OS and SP etc etc.
