Lock down IE8 home page & prevent downloads
Hi, two questions really. I have Windows 7 ultimate x64, running on I7-920, with 6gb ram and GTX-260 graphics.Firstly, I want to lock down the homepage to my home server. The kids keep installing things that change the default home page. If this is possible on firefox too, that would be great if anyone knows how to lock that down too. I did find some solutions on google, but they didn't work for me on win7/ie8/x64.Secondly, is there some rules I can set up in firewall, or a third party app that I can install to limit downloads from a computer based on a schedule. I'd also like to block specific websites and categories (eg streaming media etc), so that I can better manage my ISPs download allowance, andtry to reduce risk of spyware/malware etc.I had a look at K9 web protection, but it is very limited and has no scheduling capabilities that I could see.thanksTanya

This is such an old thread, I don't know if anyone monitors it any longer. But when I get all the way into the registry to Internet Explorer, there is NO control panel choice. It stops with the word MAIN with no further portions. So where do I go to lock the homepage now? Kate
