Lock Workstation, Logoff Screen & more issues
Hello everyone, I'm needing assistance with a problem I've been unable to fix myself. It doesn't appear to be anything major, but it's been driving me crazy! Like many people who run an always on system, I frequently use the lock workstation feature while I'm not using my computer. Within the last few months I've noticed that when locking or unlocking the computer I see a black screen for approximately 30 seconds. Shutting the system down or logging off produces an even longer black screen. My problem isn't consistent, it only occurs after my computer has been on for at least a few hours, at most a few days. I've been unable to reproduce the cause myself, and I've been troubleshooting this for months now. I've tried System Restore, the System File Checker command prompt, disabling all unnecessary start up software, temporarily uninstalling all unnecessary programs that run in the background and none of this fixed my problem. I even reinstalled my operating system after all of this failed, but the problem persists. My drivers are all up to date according to Windows Update, and I have all updates installed. My system specs are: Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) AMD Phenom II x4 965 Raedon HD 5830 4GB DDR3 1600MHz

I would go to the ATI webstie and search for the latest drivers for you Raedon HD 5830 there, i would then check to see if there was anything obvious in the event log. I'v heard of a few computers doing the same as yours and a friend told me he changed a setting in the bios.

Hi, You could try to update the BIOS and chipset driver to see how it works. You may refer to the following article: Windows Vista and Windows 7 Black Screen on Computer Unlock Hope it helps.
