Local sharing from win7 to win7 - cannot access
Hi, Just finished upgrading my old mediapc's motherboard and CPU, and finished reinstalling Win7 home. but, when i tryed to share the HDD of the mediapc like it used to be (the HDD of the mediapc was useable from all the computers from my LAN) i just get errormessage: "Windows cannot use target \\Media-pc\MovieDrive" "You may have no rights to use target \\Media-PC\MovieDrive. Ask rights from administrator". So, this was abouth ~10th time i reinstalled the win7, and on every another time the local share started to work by just right clicking the HDD drive icon -> Properties -> Sharing -> Check the box, and give the sharing name. After that, its been accesable by clicking my computer -> network -> Media-Pc -> Movie drive, but it wount allow you to write stuff before setting the rights. But, now, all i get it that error message. and yea, ive checked the settigs from the network and sharing center - network lookup: on - Printer & file sharing: on - Public file sharing: on (also tryed whit off, no change) - 128bit or 40- & 56-bit crypt make no differense - passwordprotected sharing: Off, turning it on makes it promp for username and pw when doubleclicking the media-pc - Homegroup connections: Allow windows to handle it, also tryed whit the username and PW option, but nothing changed. Any ideas ?

I did following Control panel --> Network and internet --> Network and sharing center -> click on "Change Advanced Sharing Settings" Make sure following is on Turn on network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing Turn off password protected sharing you can right click on the folder (you want to share) --> Share with --> Specific People --> Select "Everyone" from the drop down --> Click Add Then you can select permission for that user (read or read/write)
