Local network connection lost while using Microsoft Word
I am having a continuing problem with losing my Local Network connection. I am running Windows XP, SP 3 Home Edition on an HP Pavilion a230n computer. I am also using Microsoft Word 2003 Professional. Several weeks ago, I started having a problem with losing my Local Network connection. I use a HomePortal 1000SW from 2-Wire. When I originally configured it, I had to do so through AT&T. At first I thought it was my modem, as I kept seeing the Local Network light go off. With this thought in mind, I replaced the modem with another identical model. At the same time, I noticed that my lost connection alsoseemed to happen ONLY while I was using Microsoft Word. so, at the time I switched modems, I also upgraded from Microsoft Word 2000 to Microsoft Word 2003 Professional. The 2003 version was a multi-licensed application that I received at a conference. Even with the modem AND Microsoft Word both replaced (or upgraded), I am still having the lost connection issue. ONLY while I am in a Word document, at some point in time, and without warning, my cursor will "freeze", and I will lose all mouse and keyboard functionality. This doesn't happenevery time I use Word, but it only happens while using Word. It has already happened twice today. If I wait about 2 minutes, the "Local Network" light on my modem with turn off, while the Power and Broadband Link lights remain on. At this point, the ONLY thing to do is a hot reboot, which I absolutely loathe! Any idea what's causing the problem?
