Local area network connection status
I connect my windows 7 notebook to LAN, and I can access internet. I open a web site and download a application. during downloading, the Local Area network status indicator doesn't change. as you know, in Windows XP, at the same situation, the local Area network status indicator will flash. that means there are data go through netcard. but in windows 7, I can't find whether there are data go through my netcard. please tell me how to configure in windows 7 to get the same effect as in windows xp. thanks.

Hi Windows 7 Network Connection Icon is Not a flashing Icon. Search around there are 3rd party utilities that might help. Be aware that YMMV, intervening with the flow of Network traffic is at time Not a good idea. Some 3rd party Firewalls will put a flashing icon in the Tray Bar too.Jack, MVP - Networking.

thank you for your answer. a few day ago, I tested a trial software developed by my coworker. it is a sip phone software. I use a pbx phone call SIP phone A, and then, on this SIP PHONE A, I forward the call to another SIP phone B. At this time, you guess, what's happening? SIP PHONE A did not disconnect the connection to PBX. so SIP phone A keep sending data to PBX. so SIP PHONE A can't work correctly. but I don't know why? because I run SIP PHONE A on WINDOWS 7, the network connection doesn't flash. but when I run SIP phone a on windows XP. at the same situation, I find out the reason because I saw the network connection is flashing. of course, I can use 3rd party tools to find out the reasult. but it's not simple and convenient.

Hi, Windows 7 Network and Sharing Center is not a flash icon. However, you can view the network activity in Local Area Connection Status. Under Activity option, you will see the icon flash which is the same in Windows XP. In Windows 7, the icon cannot be showed in System Tray but you still can access it in Network Connection window. To access it, you can open Network and Sharing Center, and then Local Area Connection. Regards, Novak
