Local account Vs. Microsoft account
I would like to sign into my Windows 8.1 PC with a local account but still keep my Microsoft account linked for Windows Mail, App Store, etc. Is this possible? I'm pretty sure it is. What do I lose and what do I ga

AFAIK you can only be logged in as one or the other.  You can of course log out and switch back and forth.  When you upgrade to win 10 you will need to log into the MS ID to make most of the store, cortana, etc work.

I understand I can only be logged into one or the other. I want to login locally, yet access the apps I mentioned. That shouldn't be an issue, I wouldn't think.

Um you cannot access store apps, and mail without logging into your MSA.  How would it know what mail to show you?  Or what apps you have from the store.

>I just disproved this. I converted my account to a local account and it allows me to individually add my Microsoft account for each app.   You are definitely right, at least with regards to WiIn8 until the preview today.  That's how I run my work machine...
