Local Area Connection doesnt have a valip ip config. windows 7
Hello; I have 2 laptops; 1 desktop and 1 ipad in my office. I was connecting with my desktop via wire having no problems until 2 days ago. One morning; when i started my desktop pc; the connection was seemed limited with the yellow sign; and troubleshoot is saying the title : "Local Area Connection doesnt have a valip ip config." I checked the wireless connection on 2 laptops and ipad; they were online (and they are still online) I tried to connect my 2 laptops with cable; but the same error is still there: they can`t connect via wire. (giving the same error in the title) I did almost all the things i red on the forums (incluging this one); but no change. Additional info: My laptops and ipad are not connected directly to the wireless connection. When the internet came in the first day; i made one of my laptops home network (by mistaken; i dont know much about computer stuff); and the others are connected to this network (when you search for the wireless networks; it is seemed : Vaio PC network; instead of the name of the modem) So on my desktop, in the TCP ipv 4 tab; i manually entered the ip adress : 192.168.1.3; and suddenly my desktop saw the homenetwork; the yellow sign has gone; but still no internet on my desktop. And when i restarted it and manually entered the ip adress; it saw the homenetwork but couldnt connect. What can i do? Edit: when i type ipconfig renew; it says: cant connect to dhcp server.

If I understand correctly, you have given one of the computers a static IP address (192.168.1.3), but not the others. I suggest you change all the computers to use DHCP dynamic IP addresses, i.e. go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (in the left pane) > Right-click the connection (LAN or wireless), click Properties at the bottom > and scroll down to Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and double-click it. In the General Tab put dots in Obtain an IP address automatically and in Obtain DNS server address automatically. OK, etc. At the bottom of the General Tab, click Advanced > WINS Tab and put a check mark in Default. Repeat the above for Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). Restart the computers. One last thing, the IPCONFIG commands /RELEASE and /RENEW only work with a dynamic IP address, not a static one.

Thanks for the reply. They all have DHCP dynamic Ip adress; i changed the desktop pc`s; just to make a test; normally and before the problem appeared; they were all automaticly takingthe IP adress. The hint and the difference of my problem from the others is; the wired connection doesnt work on the laptops also. They connect wireless; but can not with wired. So from what i red on forums; they suggest to go into router and copy mac adress; or change the IP adress etc.; but i cant go in the router bcs it says wrong password (i never changed the password, and i never go into router before; behind the router it says the random username and pswd is admin-admin; but doesnt work. So i reset the modem to its factory defaults using a pin; but still it doesnt work) I guess i should buy a new modem; or buy the wifi chip for desktop and connect by wireless. PS: Auto assigned TCP IP stuff gives me the ip with 169.254.x.x

I might be going over old ground, but its worth checking another person's approach. Open a Run window (Windows Logo key+R), type cmd /k ipconfig /all (note the three spaces) and press Enter. Are DHCP Enabled and Automatic Configuration Enabled both set to Yes? If so, look at the Default Gateway and DHCP Server addresses. They should be the same (it is usually 192.168.n.n). Now type PING 192.168.n.n (whatever the Default Gateway is). If you get any results then it means you can connect to the router. If the connection times out you will not have a connection. If PING works and DHCP is enabled, go to the Command Prompt and type in IPCONFIG /RELEASE and press Enter, then IPCONFIG /RENEW and press Enter. Restart the computer.

Hmm, I know this can be annoying, especially as youve tried almost everything there is to try, and although the wireless is working, it does sound as though the router is broken or about to break. Here are a few straw-clutchers to check out: 1. Remove IPv6 by going to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings (in the left pane), right-click on the connection youre using, click Properties > Networking Tab. Now remove the tick from the IPv6 box. If it makes no difference or causes other problems, it is completely reversible by ticking the box. 2. Remove static electricity by turning off the computer and removing the mains lead (also remove the battery on the laptop). Press and hold the on/off button on the computer for ten seconds. Leave the computer turned off for five minutes. Also, turn off the router/modem for a few minutes. 3. Could you borrow a router from a friend or neighbour? 4. Have you tried a different cable?

When i ping from the desktop 192.168.1.1 (default gateway) ; packets sent: 4 , Received : 0, Lost:4 Ipconfig release is ok but when renew; it says cant connect to DHCP Hi, You should check the setting on your Router. The above information shows you can't connect to your gateway. After you ipconfig/all under CMD, check your IP address if it's like 192.168.1.x. If not, please check the issue from router. If you don't know how to set the router, the better way you can try is "Restore factory defaults" on your router. Before you would do that, you should understand your ISP provide information, such like your ISP account name and ISP password. After reset your router, please logon your router and do some steps to make sure your router can connect to internet. Then conncet your computer to that router for check. To aovid this issue is not caused from your ISP, make a call to them is also need. Finally you should check your DHCP client. Please find if there are any error information in your Event View. If so, please post these informatin at the forum i would glad to help you anlysis these issues. Also please check if the DHCP service is enable under your Service Manager. If all above is useless, please change another new Network cable for check. Hope this helps.Your Name TechNet Community Support

ok now i found a temporary solution (which made me so happy); I connected the desktop pc to the laptop (which has wireless connection) with the cable. Now; in the laptop there seems 2 connections: wireless and LAN i choosed both of them; right click and as I clicked bridge connection; the desktop ask me to choose network (home - public - workplace) I choosed the home network in my desktop and thats it! now it has an internet connection. The only thing that bothers me is; my laptop also has to be open if i wanna use the desktop pc. If the laptop closes; connection lost. Any ideas? Thanks.

Actually; i still cant get in to the router; because it says the username or pswrd is wrong; altough i never changed. the default is admin-admin but doesnt work. If i try to connect to the router via cable from my laptop (which i can get the username psrwd screen with wireless); it cant connect. Hi, The culprit should be your router. You should connect to the router somehow. The above information indicated that the router logon information had been changed. what's the brand of your router? It's better to contact with the router's manufacture for further help. I guess they would give you full solution to connect that rotuer. Anyway. Try to resolve the connection issue first.Your Name TechNet Community Support
