Local Area Connection Icon Gone: No Internet Connectivity
Problem synopsis: No "Local Area Connection" icon in the "Network Connections" folder. No internet connectivity. I recently attempted to get onto a wireless network connection, but my computer was returning a 169.254.x.xxx IP address every time. In an effort to fix this, I entered the Network Connections folder and tried to "Set up a home or small office network." I went through the steps and tried to configure the wireless. I then restarted. After restarting, I opened my Network Connections folder to see that my Local Area Connection icon was completely gone. When I plug in an ethernet plug to my computer, the light just above the plug does not flash anymore. When I bring up the Network Connections folder, I see "Wireless Network Connection" and "1394 Connection", but neither of my Local Area Connections that were once there. I have tried a system restore, and have tried the steps outlined on this page, but to no avail: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269019 Thank you for your help in this matter.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi ktkenshinxAs you said and I understood It might be the device driver problem. Please check out the device driver and ethernet device in device manager for proper functionality. If device driver is the problem. Install the device driver.SShrestha
