Local Access Only in Windows 7 RC1 (build 7100)
I am connected to the internet trough a proxy server. even if i am via cat5 cable or wireless to the network the connection says "local access only" that means no internet. i think is a bug because i have access to the internet, i can browse websites, and access network resources without any problem. A similar message is showing when i am using windows vista or windows vista sp1 in the same network. "No internet access". When i am connected to the internet in another location the message is not shown.Thank you!

I have this same behaviour with a fresh install of build 7100 x64 on a wired VPN network. It claims there is no internet access through a proxy server, yet there demonstrably is.However, I did not have this behaviour with Vista x64. Wireless or wired connections that cut out the VPN (and proxy) report nomally.

OK. Try restoring your pc back to before you installed Office and then install office again and then disable Microsoft updates. Then Try to restart and see if that works... please let me know

A friend of mine witch is connected to the same network like me and has installed w7 rc1 has the same problem and didn`t installed the office yet...windows updates are activated and microsoft updates i don`t know....because i don`t know where to find this option. When i use another connection (this is trough a proxy server) like another wifi hotspot the problem dissapears. Best regards.

I too am having this problem. I have a fresh install of Win7 32-bit behind a proxy. The only apparent difference is that I am on a domain. I can access the internet with no issues, but I still have a No Internet Access warning. I haven't installed any programs to the OS yet (though I'm getting ready to play with the XP Mode software), and I have turned off IPv6 because it isn't used on my domain.

For few minutes the connection showed internet access, and now again the same "No internet access".......................Microsoft, fix that bug!!! Same problem here. Windows 7100 RC. Installed 7 on an older laptop, connected via Network card, wireless card, internet connection in and out. Installed 7 two days ago on a PC, same thing, connection in and out.

Same problem here. I connect to the internet through a proxy server which requires authentication (NTLM). I can browse the web using firefox without any problems, but internet explorer and others (updates, antivirus, download managers, etc) keep giving me proxy authentication error.

I had exact same problem. Fixed it by lowering the User Account Control setting to Never notify. Crazy.

I have the same problem aswell... like half the time i start my computer this happens. i fix it by going to "control panel -> device manager -> network adapters" and unsinstall my network card. Then i press the "scan for hardware changes" button on the top under the menu and it works again. a bit annoying to have to do this, but it works :)

I have the same problem. I have a dual boot setup and I have no problem with the internet when Iboot toVista on the same computer. When I boot to Windows 7 I loose the Internet connection. It will work for several minutes then stop working. When I check my connection it says that I have an internet connection but neither Explorer or Firefox will connect. I will eventually get the indicator on the task bar that there is a problem. I did not have a problem with the beta build 7000.

Are you guys using firefox?I noticed that this occurs ONLY when I use firefox web browser. I can browse all day using IE8, or use Utorrent, or anything else, and my connection stays on. But once I use firefox, it only lasts minutes.

Hi, I used to do the same thing but yesterday I installed the Windows Virtual PC Beta which also ask to install a prerequisite KB and to have "Hardware Virtualization" active on BIOS settings. Since then I can connect normally to any wireless network (Network Office with proxy, Home connection without proxy). Also this was on Windows 7 RC x64.
