Local (home) network access
Hello, I am having problems with somewhat strange behaviour of my old Vista Home. I have recently bought Lacie La Cinema HD drive, and hooked into my home router by cable. It's got a fixed, static IP, and is easily accessible by all my machines, apart from the only running Vista. In general : 1. Vista can ping router, gets a reply, but cannot ping anything else on the same local network - always gets Destination host unreachable. 2. Booting in Safe Mode with Networking - got a success, access to local network. But it is gone after reboot, and it is gone after going Safe Mode with Networking again. 3. Vista has no problem at all hooking onto the router and connecting to internet, but does not connect to any of the LAN machines, and cannot use network shares. 4. firewall (Zone Alarm) and antivirus (AVG) were shut down - still no LAN access. Any ideas ?

Hi, Is there no network access? Or just failed to connect the network share or other machines? Did you check the following article? There is a network access and internet access. I can ping my router on the local interface, and can browse the web without any problem. The only problem is accessing another network resource connected to the router, within the same network. It does work perfectly fine from other devices like my phone, tablet etc but not from this particular laptop. I have seen the article ... everything is ok from it's perspective. Now - to make it more difficult : removing wireless connection from Windows and configuring it back makes it work - for about 15-30 minutes. Afterwards, it stops working. Rebooting helps only for next 15-20 minutes, and it looks to me like a kind of a kee-alive thing ... as long as the network share is being continuously access - everything is ok. Stopping activities for longer time (max 30 minutes) - no connection. On another machine - it works fine.
