Live One vs. Security Essentials, registry cleaner functions.
I have the trail version of "Live One Care" and when i went to subscribe to it, found it closed after October 15th. I'm using Windows XP. Everybody seems to be peddling a "registry cleaner" these days. I believe that Live One accomplished such a task (you might confirm). Is Security Essentials a satisfactory replacement for Live One and does it also offer a registry cleaner function? Kindest regards, jlw1 person needs an answerI do too

You do not ever want to use a registry cleaner. As far as I'm concerned it was irresponsible and wrong for MS to have included one with Live OneCare. I don't know if Security Essentials has a registry cleaner component but if it does, you shouldn't use it. Think your registry needs to be cleaned? Think again: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 - registry cleaner thread You can ask questions about Security Essentials here: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/mse Security Essentials is a good, very basic antivirus/antispyware program. I prefer to use separate antivirus and antispyware programs, and I prefer to not have an antispyware program running resident in Windows XP. I recommend NOD32 (commercial), Avast or Avira (free versions are available) and the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware . Update and run the latter manually about once a week.
