Live ID not accepted for Send Feedback feature
I've had Win7 installed and activated now for a couple days. Unfortunately, I still can't sign in to send feedback using my Live ID. The feedback is starting to pile up, and I'd like to clear out that queue. The specific message is: "The given Live ID does not have permission to submit bugsfor the Connect form defined for Feedback Tool, or the service is unavailable."Assuming the service *is* available, what am I missing?Keith J. Did you download Win7 as part of TechNet/MSDN or from MS Connect? If you are not part of the beta from MS Connect, you won't be able to login and do a Send Feedback. Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org

So, are there other official channels for a technet subscriber to submit a bug report other than at these forums?I'm getting the same error.

The ISO was from MSDN, but I retrieved a seperate key via the public channel.Keith J. Farmer [Idea Entity]

IU guess I just have no understanding as to why we cannot send feedback if we are even running ANY beta at any time. All of our feedback would be more helpful than just a select group. Also, we have the problem reports recorder we could even use in Windows 7 to send it in, possibly. Why not use this like our users would?I am just so progressive.

HiThere144The Connect site is the place for 'bug reports' with the standard Feedback tools. Those using the pubic beta can use the 'send feedback' links available in places like the help menu of Explorer. The difference is that you get no followup from the team supporting the beta. "Opting In" for feedback is an import part of improving Win7. You should try to do it when you can.Rating posts helps other users Mark L. Ferguson MS-MVP

Right, and this would be great, if it worked for anyone. However, the given live ID does not have permission, so this is not an option for the majority of us. Oh well. I really think 7 is solid for me so far. I am also going to be using a box for my DVR.

My Live ID is also being rejected just as Keith has described. My Windows 7 Beta is part of my Technet Plus subscription and has just been activated.I have so far found some bugs, one of them which is very annoying.I have also spent a while browsing the Connect site and do not find a connection for Windows 7.All I see is a long thread with people wanting to be Windows 7 Beta testers. How can I send feedback if my Live ID is not going to work?I ultimately do not want the bugs that I have found appearing in Windows 7 RTM.

Please reply to my post! My Feedback is vital, otherwise what is the point of me having Windows 7 Beta?

I have the same problem with my MSDN key. However I also have a Virtual PC install using the key I got from the public beta download (same Live ID). On this installation I can submit feedback, though there is no mention of connect - I suspect it goes into a different bucket, though hopefully it is looked at.Tim

Tim Heuer posted some links to his blog which worked for me:http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2009/01/12/give-feedback-for-windows-7.aspxTim

Give us feedback on the Windows 7 Beta! As an MSDN subscriber you have the ability to register with Microsoft Connect to track the status of bugs you report. You will also be able to search, view and vote on bugs other MSDN subscribers have filed. To register on Connect, please click here. This will enroll you into the MSDN Bug Filing Program. Once you are enrolled in the program you may file bugs using any send feedback link in the product and access your feedback tracking page directly from this link. Connect says I'm enrolled. However, I still cannot set a report.Perhaps I'm leaving out some details. There are two individuals here with access to the beta. The other is the one with the current MSDN account from whence this install came. I activated it using the key from the Connect site, avoiding a re-download of the installer, believing (as I hope) that the binaries are identical. I'm concerned now that they are not, and that I'm unable to send feedback from Win7's dialog because my MSDN subscription is lapsed.Keith J. Farmer [Idea Entity]

I should have mentioned, I had registered on the Connect site before posting. I still receive the same error. This is on the 64 bit version, don't know if that makes a difference. When I visit the Connect site, I show up as registered and have access to my profile, which of course contains 0 reports.
