Live Essentials installation
I'm setting up a new laptop. When getting updates, Windows Live Essentials was one of them. I think it was about 12 parts. When it was done I got a pop up message. "Couldn't install programs You already have different build flavor of Windows Live." I suspected something phony there because that is a poorly worded message. But nonetheless, I Okayed it and then got the message "The updates were successfully installed". Again, that doesn't make sense either. Everything in Live Essentials seems to work just fine. But now Live Update is showing Windows Live Essentials 2011 (KB2434419) as an important update. I try to install it again and get the same stupid "different build flavor" message, followed by the same "installed successfully" message. If I already have everything (even if it has varied "flavors") why does the update keep coming back? In XP you could pick custom install, uncheck it, and then check a box to never remind you of the update again. How can I do this in Windows 7?

I have it fixed. I uninstalled *everything* and then for some reason Windows Live Essentials was no longer an "important" update but an "optional" update. I installed it again and no longer get the error. Consider it solved.
