I do agree that Window could probably do a better job with multiboot bootloaders; however, there are several good free, third-party solutions available. The most notable is EasyBCD (http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1).If you install Windows first, then your favorite flavor of Linux, GRUB or LiLowill usually take care of the multiboot options. As for networking with Linux, Windows has always had Services for NFS. With Windows NT/2000/XP it was a separate download under the name of Windows Services for Unix 3.5 (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/interopmigration/bb380242.aspx). Now with Windows Vista and Windows 7, the binaries are already there. As long as SAMBA is properly configured on your Linux machine, you should have very little trouble networking the two; however, it takes a little configuration to get the Linux machine to authenticate to a Windows AD 2003/2008domain. The biggest obstacle is to lower the NTLM authentication on Vista and Win7 machinesso that "older" protocols can be used.
