Linksys PCI WMP300n wireless will not stay connected with Win7 x64
Greeting,Linksys PCI WMP300n wireless will not stay connected...Not broadcasting SSID...WEP Access (its the only type that one of my other old systems will accept...Win7 x64...I waited till 7100 RC... Installed 64 bit version. Everything seemed to go OK... But alas, loosing the wireless connection to the network.. Seems that a reboot tends to correct the issue for a few minutes, then drops back back off... GRRRRRRRRRRRRR... Not using any of the linksys applications, those never seems to work anyway.Had beenletting windows XP 32 handle that business and doing the same now with Win7 x64. Win7 loaded the linksys wmp300n drivers on its own. I have even tried to reload the same after downloading from linksys, win7 says that it is not needed, (the same????)... So now what do we do... I'm hoping not to reformat and install Win XP back on this computer... Maybe someone here can help me out...

Hey bill85226, I have the same card and HAD the same problem. This is definitely a driver issue. The only way I you can prevent this instability is to use a different driver. The default driver installed in a fresh installation of Windows 7 (in my case) is a Broadcom driver BCM4329. This driver is stable, but won't give you the the full features of the adapter. NOTE: Once you run Windows Update after a fresh installation it will try to install the Linksys WMP300N driver. DO NOT let this happen! It was surprisingly difficult for me to find the bcm4329 driver and get it to work after installing the linksys driver, so I ended up just reinstalling the OS. Just hide that driver update. Hope this helps! WIndwos 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7100) Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Intel(R) Core(TM) Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz (will overclock someday :) ) 4 GB RAM Linksys PCI WMP300N (Model 1)

I've got a Linksys wireless USB connector and played all sorts of ____ trying to get it to work. The Vista drivers didn't work at all and on a whim I decided to try the XP driver. Don't ask me why, but the XP driver works.

I have the same card as well and have the same issue. It seems to work okay for me until I start downloading big files like video games. I am running Windows 7 x64 as well. Rebooting temporarily fixes the problem. I've tried adjusting the properties for the wireless adapter such as matching up channels, etc. Again it appears to work and stays on until I start putting it under heavy use and then it drops out. If I am only using internet and e-mail it stays connected. This seems to be the only issue I am having with the RC, otherwise it is working great and I am enjoying it immensley.

I was running just fine with my Linksys WMP300N until I applied last night's win7 (64) update. This morning, the system no longer recognizes the card. It shows in devmgnr as "unknown ethernet card" and when I try to re-apply the drivers it says 'nothing appropriate'. I'm so bummed since this was working just fine and whatever was in the latest update has screwed it. I tried deleting the device in the manager, but that has not helped. Was hoping it would re-recognize and re-install. Anyone have issues w/ last night's update?

I had the same issue until I read this thread tonight. A simple solution I found was to uninstall the Linksys WMP300N driver entirely. Make sure you check the "Delete the driver software for this device" box. your device should uninstall and after a few minutes revert back to the initial driver that came with Windows 7, "Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter". using this driver the device no longer looses the connection to the internet, even when downloading large files, which I also found to be a trigger. Just make sure you do not heck to install the optional linksys WMP300N driver and you should be fine for now.

Please run Windows Update and confirm that you are running the latest updates for your wireless network adapters. If you have the latest updates and you are still seeing problems, please reply with: --- make/model of the Wi-Fi card. You can get this by typing "netsh wlan sho dr" on the command prompt ----make/model of your Wi-Fi router --- problem symptoms --- reproduction steps for problem to happen Thanks,Alok ManchandaMicrosoft Corporation

However, anyone have this one now with RTM, using the latest drivers? And does windows update still break it?

LinkSys WMP300N - device will not connect after installing Windows Update driver update. Using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit RTM. Router is a LinkSys WRT160N. To fix it I went into the network adapter properties in Device Manager and rolled back the driver. The wireless card immediately was detected and connected to my network and the internet.
