Line in on Lenovo notebook and Windows 7
I have two Lenovo notebooks. When I put line in sound (pre-amp level) I get distortion. It's almost like running it through a bad limiter. When it is loud it overmodulates, when is quiet there is little or no sound. There is no
line in on my recording options.

Check on the Lenovo website for the latest Windows 7 audio drivers. Barring that, you might try some third-party app such as WinAmp to control the input.
