Limited or no connectivity
I can't connect to the internet at all. It says limited or no connectivity. I've tried everything I can think of to cure this aggrevating problem. I've tried Microsoft Fixit, Winsockxp fix, none of it works!My IP address is really screwy-- 169.254.xx.xxx, no addy at all for my DNS Server or WINS Server.I'm stumped!! I'm on my hubby's puter right now that is connected to mine with a router and it works fine, even the internet so I know it's my computer.Can someone help me??Any advise would be welcome!!!1 person needs an answerI do too

"Limited or no connectivity" combined with an IP address of the form169.254.x.y means that you are not properly connected to your router. The usual home setup is that the router is connected to the source of the Internet (DSL or cable) and that each of the computers is connected to the router. If this is not how your network is physically connected, please explain. Further, you didn't say whether your computer is connected to your router via Ethernet cable or wireless. The symptoms you describe typically result from a wireless connection where you don't have the correct encryption password. Try connecting your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable. If that's already how you're connected, try a different port on the router and/or a different cable. Confirm that the little LED on the computer port where the cable is connected is on (or flashing); it's usually green. If you're trying to connect wirelessly, make sure that your wireless adapter is functioning: look at the list of available wireless networks -- do you see yours (at the very least)? Go to the "Properties" of yourwireless network connection, click on the "Wireless Networks" tab andremove your network (SSID) from the list of Preferred networks. Now go back to "View wireless networks" and click Connect. Enter the passwordvery carefully. -- Lem
