Limited number of connections?
I remember one of the XP SP3 characteristics was the reduction of the number of connections. I used some hack programs to test the security of my sites, and I remember this change disallowed some apps. I try to use it now because of a client question, but I can't make it work (specifically I mean brute force's app Accessdiver) Is there some limitation in Windows 7? Thanks

Yes, same limitations as in Windows XP. Windows 7 can up to 10 connections (up to 10 users accessing to sharing folder, etc)

Thanks. Is there a way to go around this limitation?

Yes there is and follow the link and grab the 'Setup Windows 7 As a File server Tweaks.zip' http://cmdcomputerservices.com/Windows7Tweaks.aspx You may need to edit the registry permissions to be able to import it.

Well, it doesn't work anyway. Maybe another incompatibility between W7 and AccessDiver. Thanks anyway.

Thanks, I'm kind a kamikaze with the registry since Windows 95 (I use windows since the first Windows for PC XT) and some times I had to reinstall, but a little few  EDITED: The article say I must modify the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\EnableConnectionRateLimiting key. This key doesn't exists in my registry, so I created it, but I assigned a 0 value. I will reboot to try it.

Hi, Nicholas. You have marked as answer your post, but I'm not sure if it is true. That's the reason because I haven't marked it before. The programs still not works and I really haven't inisist with it. I'm sure with your method I can have more connections, but I really can't be sure. If you look at my last post, I said I haven't the key mentioned in the article and I had to create it. Thanks anyway.
