Limited downloadspeed in Windows 7 x64
I am using an Windows 7 x64 and my connection is a 50mb fiber, a few days ago the problem started. When i am online useing ftp, http or what ever i can not get more than about 2mb/sec speed. I used to get around 6mb/sec, i have another win7 pc and the network speed is just fine there. This has something to do with the windows 7 on this pc. Has anyone any ideas what can be the problem ??

Got this from another thread If you have installed any other web browsers on your computer, check for the download speed in that and confirm if the issue recurs or not. Firstly, I’d suggest you to boot into safe mode with networking and check if the download speeds increase or still remain the same. Safe Mode with Networking starts Windows in safe mode and includes the network drivers and services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network. If the download speed is normal (high – as it used to be in Vista) in safe mode in networking – we can conclude that the issue could occur due to any incompatible third party drivers or any startup programs or services in the normal mode. The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts. Refer the link below for more details: Advanced startup options (including safe mode)http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode Let us know what happens in safe mode. We shall proceed with the troubleshooting accordingly.and this toowent looking and found that the teredo tunnel adapter was not working right, it was disabled. I enabled it and my speeds went back to normal. Found this thread as well, kind of interesting http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7network/thread/06bfc9bd-08f8-4df3-80c0-72db142e0587 towards the top of that thread, but other good suggestions too.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Starting in safe mode with networking is the same, network speed is slow. I have upgraded Bios, updated network drivers and chipset drivers. I am not finding any options to controle this Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface. It has something to do with ipv6 that i have no usage for, and i can find no way to disable it. This seems to be an Windows 7 problem, in my last Win7 setup the 7100 trial i had simular problems, i was unable to listen to an kind of online streaming of music as many others have expirienced to according to what i have read from looking for a sollution to this problem. And netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled does not work either. My interest in useing windows is geting less and less, Vista was bad and i had hope for Win7, if Microsoft don´t recognize this problem soon and find a fix i am switching to ubuntu. :-)

maybe changing MTU values and increasing the RWIN parameter which makes it faster response and low latency would help?make sure u ajust the RWIn value according to ur MTU value..like if ur connection is PPPOE the MTU should be set to 1492 and if its other types it usually is 1500...also ajust MSS values..if u need suggestion for the values i can look it up in my .txt files then i post the values here...it helped for my connection and i believe it will for urs too!Kind regards,RR

Well i have no idea how to change these values and i am getting realy tired of this problem. I have installed Windows 7 two times on my pc and both times there have been network problems after a few weeks. This is a big flaw. Thanks for your help but i think i will be formating soon and dumping MS for good.

Hi, Please also try the following to check if the issue is related to the NIC: 1. Ensure the NIC is compatible with Windows 7 and update its driver. 2. If you have an external NIC, please try it and see how it works. Hope this helps. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT
