Limited access to the internet - Network settings?

Hi,

I used to connect to my universities VPN service via the Microsoft VPN connection set up. For security reasons they decided to upgrade to a VPN client, (Junos Pulse). Since i was forced to install the client, i now have limited access to the internet when i'm not connected to the VPN. So my Windows Live Mail will not sync, i can not access a gaming server in Flash player and the like. But my web browser, Chrome, is some how still able to access internet websites.

When i am connected to the VPN all programs appear to work fine, emails sync, i can play the game. etc, etc.

So what could this VPN client have done to the setting of my computer? And how do i fix the issue?

This is really bugging me because i don't want all of my internet activities to pass through the VPN.

I use a Windows 8 laptop, so it would be great in any help/directions could be aimed towards that operating system.

Thanks for any help in advance.

As a first step, I suggest you contact your university system administrators and report the problem to them. They should know how you can restore full internet connectivity on your system with their VPN client installed.

If they cannot help, contact the Junos Pulse technical support for assistance:
