Limited Connectivity Problem (after few time of successfull network establishment)
Dear All, Hope u all will be f9. Now a days i m in hell of trouble i think due to my OS problem. I m using Window Vista 32-bit SP2 Home Premium. I am using Dell Studio 1537. I am facing this problem recently and i dont know what is the cause behind it. The problem is with Internet Connectivity. I am using Fixed LAN i-e i am connected through my hostel LAN to my university network. when i start my computer and connect to the network, initially the connection establishes well and i can browse everything, as soon as i want to use any Voip service (Skype etc) or try to do online video streaming i loss the connection. In the network icon a yellow indication appears and shows Limited Connectivity. I am not able to connect to the network after this indication else i restart my Laptop. I tried "Diagnose and Repair" utility but at last i came across message that window can't repair it. I also want to share some observations which can be helpful. 1st, when i connect to the network i observe almost 4 networks in "Network and Sharing Center" like Network 14, Network 7 etc. (my room mate has the same Laptop with the same OS and configuration and for him there is only one network in " Network and Sharing Center". All things are good for him). 2nd, Sometime it happens that after having this issue when i shut down my computer, it takes alot of time and at last "memory dump" message appears with blue screen and computer starts again. 3rd, it also happened that after getting Limited Connectivity message i tried to enable/disable or uninstall my NIC driver but i was not able to do so and application moved to not responding phase. When i rebooted my system then i was able to work on NIC driver. Now i will tell you that till now what had i tried to solve the problem but all in vain: 1- I had changed the Ethernet cable and also used the same cable, connected to my Laptop, on my room mate's laptop (for him there is no problem that's mean there is no problem with the cables). 2- I had also changed the port and connect to the one my room mate is using but in vain. 3- I disabled Ipv6 to remove any conflict, if it is due to this reason. When i do so all networks in "Network and Sharing Center" disappear except one. But in my room mate's Laptop Ipv6 is enabled and he is still getting one network in "Network and Sharing Center". 4- I uninstalled and reinstalled NIC driver. 6- I updated the NIC driver. 7- I reduced the size of MTU 1500 to 1450 but same problem. Now for me the only solution left is to reinstall OS but i don't want to do this as i have a lot of softwares and i m working on academic projects. Please help me as my exams has started and i have to do lot of things, i can't afford re-installation of OS this time. I m sending also the "ipconfig /all" result below , may be it proves helpful to understand the problem and also i have undo all the changes except MTU . Kindly help me i shall be very thankful to you. Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6002] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. You must delete all networks in Network and Sharing Center and create a new connection. Once connected open Network and Sharing Center and click Customize. Click Merge or delete network connections. Highlight each one listed and click Delete. You cannot delete the one in use, that one will be deleted in the next step. Click Close to close that page then click cancel to close the next page. While Network and Sharing Center is still open click Manage Network Connections. Right click each connection and click Delete. If Delete is Greyed out choose Properties. Click Configure, click Driver, click Uninstall, click OK. Do not put a check in the box "Delete the driver software for this device" Restart your computer. Make your new connection.
