LifeCam Shows Up as AVStream Media Device and Lync Crashes on Video Call
I'm currently using Windows 8.1, Lync 2013, and a Lifecam VX-5000. As of a few days ago, Lync has started crashing whenever I try to do a video call with the webcam chosen as the video device. Also, now under Settings->Video Device, the Lifecam now
shows up as "AvStream Media Device" under the devices.

Hi,
Please update to the latest version for Lync client and test again.
It may cause by the issue of compatibility between Lync and camera, please update your webcam driver to the latest version.

I have the same issue. There are no newer versions of the Microsoft Lifecam vx-5000 driver and I am using up-to-date Lync client on my up-to-date Win 8.1 x64 desktop.
