Licencing and deployment for Windows 7 Thin PC
Hi there,
I am not overly familiar with the licencing implications here so please bear with me.
We are looking to roll out new desktops to some remote branches for a client who has some old PC's which are badly in need of being replaced. The remote branches will need basic office applications along with remote access to a centralised application
which is done through a terminal connection.
Rather than having to swap out all the PCs which may struggle to run full blown Windows 7, i believe the footprint required for Windows 7 Thin PC is much smaller so may run on more of the PC's? Any which are still unable to carry this out, i am looking to
install Windows 7 Thin PC on a HP/Dell Thin Client PC however i believe that you cannot install applications on this?
If i went ahead with the above, am i breaching/bending any licencing issue's which i should be looking out for?
The client has Software Assurance in place with Microsoft so is there anything else which i would need to look out for?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Hello Colin,
Use this link
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/software-assurance/windows-thin-pc.aspx
Particularly the FAQ link at the bottom of the page, it has the list of applications classes that can be installed on Windows Thin PC.
