Less advanced search
I am trying to search ONLY for files that include (2). When I try i get every thing that has a 2 in it. This is unacceptable. too much of a good thing is still too much. Is there a way to do this in windows 7????????

() has a special meaning in the search. Try typing: "(2)" or escape the paranthesis like this: \(2\) Regards Jens Peter Karlsen.

Thank you Jens Tried "(2)" .... same results as (2) escaping the parentheses with \ didnt work at all. Is there not a simple filename search? What i want to do is search for *(2).* in just the file name. this used to work. I accidentally created a lot of duplicate files while doing something stupid, and I am now trying to get rid of them in as painless a process as possible

Strangely, I tried \(2\) when I first saw this post and got part way through posting it as a response until I released that only the first file returned contained (2) and the other contained things like (0) or (1)...

You can do a search from the command line that will return what you want: dir *(2).*To delete all files in a folder that contains a paranthesis with a single character: del *(?).*Make sure you are in the correct folder before running that. Regards Jens Peter Karlsen.
