Lenovo Programs Missing after 8.1 update

I updated my new Lenovo Z400 from Win8 to Win8.1. Buit now all of the apps that came with my system are gone. I had a 1-touch Reinstall, WiDi, Lenovo Camera and other apps on my desktop but everythingh is gone.

How do I get my Lenovo Apps (and most likely others apps) back? Im not sure if returning to a Restore point will work? Opr, iof my Apps are still there just hidden.

thx

Did you update to 8.1 From the Windows Store or do the upgrade installation off the DVD? I read you need to modify the DVD in order to do an in-place upgrade, otherwise it will remove your previously installed OS. If this was the case, you'll find it in C:\Windows.old.

Thx for the help Tripredascus,

To upgrade, the first time I did a search and updated from a Windows link. After acweekmorv so everything looked/worked fine. My desktop and everything looked the same after my upgrade tom 8.1. Then i lost the ability to brighten my screen, then everything stopped working after upgrading my Office.

I reinstalled the OS by hitting F12 to repair my OS as I couldnt get Win8 to do anything.

After restart, everything was fine but 8.1 was removed. So, i reinstalled 8.1 and this time my desktop and all of the Lenovo asps were gone. Not good.

So I decided (since i was scared i lost everytyhing) I rerpaired again, and will not upgrade again. A few evenings wasted.

Will Windows.old have all of the apps thast Lenovo hasd put on my machine? Do I rename Windows.old to ??? andv would 8.1 just go away? Nmot sure how this works or would effect my machine in a good/bad way.

Thx for your help.

have you tried searching for Lenovo in the Windows Store ?

Also, this Lenovo forum thread may help:

I am not aware of a way to reinstall Windows using Windows.old. Everything in there are basically files.
