Launching an app before OS loads?

Hi,

I am sysprepping a machine and everything goes fine ... but I would like to open a text file or popup message at the following phases
" Setup is starting Services"  OR "Installing System Devices"  ..... is this possible

Checked the Synchronous command but it applies changes in Specialize phase /when applying system changes.

Hi,

As I know, "Setup is starting Services" belongs to "Online Configuration" phase, why did you want to add command at this phase, how anout "WindowsPE" phase, just before the "Online Configuration" phase.

Regarding to the Synchronous Command, not only it can be added into specialize phase or  auditUser\oobesystem passes configuration, but can also be added into WindowsPE phase. So it doesn't just apply changes in Specialize phase /when applying system changes.

Add a Custom Command to an Answer File

Well, forgot to mention, but I have already tested the WinPE pass and the command just ignored.
Same command worked when used in Specia

Hi,

Apologize for the delay, first, please make sure that you have a right configuration, you can refer to this guide

Microsoft-Windows-Setup\RunSynchronous

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc766344(v=ws.10).aspx

To further look at the cause of the issue, we can check the log during the Windows PE phase, log information are included in the link below:

Hi,

Could you please share the part of "RunSynchronous" for WinPE phase in the answer file with us to take a look?

Please also take a look of the setup log:

C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setupact.log

C:\WINDOWS\PANTHER\setupact.log

You can upload the files to OneDrive, then share the download link here for further analysis.

Check your policy documentation. As far as I am aware, you are not permitted to modify the first boot sequence. You are permitted to have a custom EULA, but this is shown during the OOBE phase, after the Windows EULA is displayed. This is done using oobe.xml.

Hi,

But EULA is displayed after the System settings has been applied, I want to found a workaround before applying system settings, like WinPE phase .

WinPE phase does not execute after sysprep /oobe. So it won't happen on first boot for a customer when they power up the PC. WinPE phase is only used during OS deployment, or during recovery with WinRE.
