Large workstation backups
Running in a professional IT environment (no slights intended!), it isnt practical to keep a block based image of every workstation in the office, on the network. The original system backup, of a large workstation, has to be properly managed, because many users have 100s of GBs of data; some may have over a TB of data, on a workstation. You cant keep a block based image, for comparison, online, for all users. You still need some mechanism for performing differential or incremental backups, of large workstations. This may take a bit more time to perform, but you need the option of trading elapsed time off, against online storage. If Im missing something, please enlighten me, otherwise please put back differentials and incrementals!

Would not be better to have each workstation saving data to network share???I have 150 plus workstations no one saves local they all save to servers or NAS boxes this makes is easy to backup the data and I only have to worry about the OS which after the first image (I install and setup apps) I do not back it up anymore. As windows is very stable and I do not allow for tweeter / facebook / myspace trash on the networks and the email is scanned at the server and use dns filtering.virus / spyware and so on are almost not an issue.I have only had to reload five PC's in over 6 years.
