Large downloads stall under Win 7 64 SP1
I recently added a new PC, Win 7 64 SP1, to my home network, and ALL downloads from any source in IE, FF or Chrome fail at around the 110-120Mb point. 2 other PCs on the same network, one 32 bit SP1 and one 64bit SP 0 download the same files, from the same servers, through the same cable modem and router and across the same network 100% of the time. I have tested this PC with AV and Firewall off,and to different destination disks, same result. Files less than around 110-120Mb download properly every time. Suggestions?

I suspect the issue isn't with Windows 7 or SP1 per se, but rather with the installed network driver. Can you provide any details about the make/model of the machine or mainboard? It will help for hunting down an appropriate driver and maybe some setting changes.

That driver should be stable, it's the same one I'm using with Win 7 Pro x64 SP1 on an ASUS board. Still, there's a newer one here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Ha! The drivers ar that link seem to resolve the problem (windows however thinks the older 7.36.1224.2010 driver is still the most current). Thanks

What's the ping response now? When I first saw the 13ms I knew there was a problem, heck I can ping Illinois from Georgia and come in under 13ms! My ping on my home 1GBit network is displayed as 1 ms, only because it can't show anything less. Even if a machine is sleeping it only extends out to 2 or 3 ms. Glad you got it fixed, but just as a point of curiousity, I'd like to know what it (the response time) is now with a better driver. DAS
