Laptop wont boot up
My dad has a Toshiba Laptop with the Windows XP operating system. When he turns on his computer it goes to the screen that tells you your computer was previously shut down incorrectly. I have tried using safe mode, normal mode, last known working configuration etc and each time the computer just restarts and goes directly back to the same page. I had already posted this question but mistakenly thought my dads laptop had Vista rather than XP. I have been searching the internet to see if XP has a similar recovery disc that can be downloaded but can't find any sites. So I was wondering if I was to use the disc that came with the computer will this lose all files and documents from the computer like the Vista one dose, or is it a safer recovery disc? As far as I am aware, my Dad has not made a backup disc of his files. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks 1 person needs an answerI do too

I have the same problem as well. The computer keeps booting itself and won't respond to anything. The only screen it stops on is the error msg saying the computer was shut down incorrectly. Windows is not accessible.

Windows is not accessible. Have you tried to access Advanced Options by pressing F8 on boot-up then selecting "Last known good configuration"? yes, it won't respond to f8... it'll loop whether I choose safe mode, last known configuration, normally... any of those 5 options on that screen.
