Laptop no longer able to get IP address
OK, I was running fine on our wireless before I left home. After appointments, I jumped on a free wireless site and was able to check mail but now at home, my laptop will not connect with anything. I have XP SP3, built-in wireless 802.11g. I have gone in to cmd and checked ipconfig /all and it says both dhcp and autoconfiguration are enabled. Also shows an IP address of 169.xxx.x.xxx. I understand this is APIPA and only should come up if server is not available. My desktop still connects fine so I know the network is up and still valid. Have also tried to add DchpEnabled REGDWORD to registry but seems to have no effect. Please help!!?? ps-only changes were updates from Microsoft installed before leaving home.2 people need an answerI do too
