Laptop & printer connect to network, but can't print wirelessly - only via USB!
I have an old Dell laptop (Latitude D610), a brand new Netgear router (WPS2000) and a 1-yr old brother multifunction printer (MFC-790CW). The laptop and printer are both wirelessly connected to our home network/router. However, I cannot print wirelessly from the laptop. The printer was installed on the laptop when we first got it and prints fine as long as it is directly connected to the laptop via USB. However, if I unplug the USB cable and connect the printer wirelessly to the router, it won't print. The printer shows on my laptop as Offline. I've done searched online and tried a few things, but I cannot get it to work. I can ping the printer from the laptop (4 responses) and the printer shows an Excellent connection to the network.I tried enabling printer sharing on the laptop, but since the printer is not connected directly to the laptop I'm pretty sure this does nothing (plus, it didn't fix the problem). I also tried selecting the printer, then clicking on File and Use Printer Online. This changed the status to Ready, but print jobs still fail. Of course, I've tried turning both the laptop and printer off for a few minutes and then trying again. Can anyone help me out with this? I don't know what to do...P.S. I'm not very computer savvy, so I may need more simple instructions than others...Thank you!!1 person needs an answerI do too
