LCD flickers
I recently installed Win7 onto a new HDD (dual boot). Every 15 minutes or so, the screen flickers and sometimes it goes completely blue and i have to restart. I can CTR + ALT + DEl, to get taskmgr, but i cant use the desktop anymore. Monitor and video card works fine with XP. I have a Geforce6200 with driver 8.17.11.9621 dated 1/11/2010. I tried using the driver that windows says is an upgrade (from 2009) same problem. Nothing telling in event viewer. Sometimes it just flickers, and sometimes when i select a group of icons on the desktop, the whole display freezes with the blue selection box. Any ideas

Hi, I would like to confirm what version of Windows 7 you are running and how long the issue is present in Window 7. What information did you see when you get taskmanager (such as high CPU or RAM usage). Have you ever change any option of display? Meanwhile, you should upgraded your hardware driver up to date. (NVIDA has released the latest version(196.21) of GF 6 serials driver for windows 7. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_64bit_196.21_whql.html ) But sometimes the official driver cannot fit the manufactory ones. You can also go to the manufactory’s website to check the updates or perform the Automatically Upgrade of drivers. If the problem persisted after upgrading, I recommend you use these choice to make test. Press F8 during boot, 1.Slect “repair your computer” , come into Windows error Recovery Environment->run Memory Diagnostics Tool Memory Diagnostics Tool can check RAM for the failures, which caused instability of the operating system. Any error found? 2. Safe mode It is used to eliminate the conflict caused by of background programs or drivers. If your computer work fine in Safe mode, you can Clean Boot your computer and determine what is the culprit. For your reference : how to clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Pls let me know the result the tests.

Your video card needs to be updated, the 6200 is far too slow to be useful.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! There is a more current driver than one from less than 4 weeks ago? (8.17.11.9621 dated 1/11/2010) Ram test passed fine. Ran that first. Brand new MB, RAM, CPU, PS, SSD HDD. This is windows 7 pro x64. build 7600. Does not do it in safe mode, at least not as long as i watched. Hard to test since the pc is only half functional in safe mode. It could be that the video card just doesn't like Win7, i just wanted to make sure i had all my bases covered so i justify to myself a reason to upgrade. The 6200 is more than enough for what i need, as i am not a gamer. I would be fine with onboard if the MB had it. I went to the driver site and didn't see one newer than what i have. Did i miss something?

Get a better video card, the 6200 is about as useless as it gets.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! Hi, As I have told you, NIVIA has released the latest version of GeForce/ION Driver Release 196http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_64bit_196.21_whql.html I would like to confirm the exact module of the 6200 serials, since there are 6200SE TurboCache, 6200 LE, 6200 TurboCache, 6200 A-LE, 6200.There seems some modules which cannot support AERO well. You can disable the AERO effect as a test. BTW, there seems a gap between your motherboard and video card. They may have some adaption diff when working together under high load. You can re-run windows 7 assessment to get a rating of your computer or use Advanced Tools in Control Panel->All Control Panel Items->Performance Information and Tools Good luck!
