LAN server do not show when connected PPPoE broadband connection
Hi, I am using Windows 7 32bit.... I recently shifted from Windows XP SP3 to Win7 32bit..... The problem i m facing is that when i connect to PPPoE connection to connect to the internet server, my local area connection servers do not show up, such as servers from LAN for games (dota, cs etc).... I have to disconnect the PPPoE connection to show LAN server. I never faced such a problem in Windows XP.... Any suggestion?

Hi, Do you mean that you cannot connect to local area server when you use PPPoE to connect to Internet server? Please tell us the details about your network structure: 1. Where is your local area server, is it on the same network with the Windows 7 computer? How do you connect to it? 2. Can you ping to local area server when you connect to Internet server? If not, is there any error message? Meanwhile, due to you installed Windows 7 recently, please update corresponding drivers for Windows 7 to make it work normally. Hope it helps. 1. Actually it is a cable internet service known as "VTCS boardband"... I am always connected to the Local area network... But the cable network provider have assigned a PPPoE dialup and provides us username and password to every single user... That is how we connect to internet, otherwise we can only use local area network not the internet service.... 2. My local area network is my internet provider as mentioned above.... I can ping the server.... 3. When I connect to PPPoE dialup connection of my Local area network server, then my game server which is over LAN not on the internet(connected to PPPoE) wont show... But when the disconnect the PPPoE Dialup the game servers on LAN shows then... It seems to be hard to understand i think :s All my drivers are up-to-date..... Every1 who have Windows 7 installed got the same Problem while they connect to PPPoE Dialup....

Seems like kind of a funky setup. Most people put a router between them and their ISP and the router handles the PPoE connection details with everyone sharing the connection, that would eliminate this DNS issue; but hey, whatever works for you; who am I to argue? Anyway, there may be a couple of ways around this: Add your internal DNS server to the DNS search list: Go to Control Panel->Network and Sharing Center->Change Adapter Settings. Right-click on Local Area Connection and select Properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and select Properties again. Click Advanced. Select the DNS tab. Click Add and add your internal DNS server's address. Alternately, you can just add your internal server names and addresses to your HOSTS file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts).

Same problem here, LAN Game Servers, such as Warcraft III - The Frozen Throne, Counter-Strike 1.6, don't show up, when a PPPoE Broadband connection is connected. When we disconnect the PPPoE connection, they start showing up. DNS can't be a problem here or can it ?
