LAN gaming problems
Hi, since i've installed windows 7 release candidate, all my attempts to play LAN games failed. When I create a game nobody on the LAN can see it, even if the game is created on a XP machine. I tried disabling the firewall but it still doesn't work. In the Beta everything worked. I have tried with warcraft 3, call of duty 4 and sacred 2. In call of duty 4 you can manually add IPs in your favorite server list, and it works. I have tried with 3 different windows 7 build 7100 computers at home and they all don't work. I even tried with another routeur just to be sure. My 2 XP machines can create and join LAN games alright. But not with the windows 7 ones. I also tried completely disabling the firewall and running the games in administrator. I don't know what's causing the problem at all. Are there changes in the broadcast policies under windows 7 ? Thanks.

This issue is not restricted to Windows 7 then? If you can manually add IPs and have it work just fine it sounds like an internal DNS issue.

No, it's restricted to windows 7. Games I create on windows 7 cannot be seen by nobody, and windows 7 cannot see other games. My 2 XP machines works just fine and can join each other. Also, it worked in the Beta 7000 just fine.

Please check your anti-virus and firewall. Temporary disable them and check the result again. If the issue persists, please let us know if the issue occurs when you play all the games, or it occurs with individual games.Arthur Xie - MSFT

Is your Windows 7 machine in "HomeGroup" or did you add it to the same group your other machines are on?
