LAN and Internet Connection
I have installed Windows 7 on blank harddrive on a desktop. No problems incountered during installation. However, when I tried to access the internet the network adapter (Intel(R) PRO/100 VE) showed initially: LAN not connected. LAN was connected but the adapter installed is a Netgear FA311. After searching through this Forum I found that I need to install a new driver. After that I had 2 adapters but the FA311 is now connected. If I delete the Intel it is installed again after each new boot. With the FA311 I still cannot access the internet. It shows "unidentified network" and "limited connectivity". After hours of trying different settings and scanning through this forum I founf another hint: Set "Network Media" in the adapter properties to the actual value, in my case 100Base Tx Full Duplex. For a while the limited connectivity was gone but I still could not access the internet. In the meantime i have again limited connectivity although Netwrok Media isset correctly. The computer is connected via a Netgear switch to a DSL router.

NIC is functional, I have tried the IPv4 configuration with autoconfiguaration and with defining IP, Gateway etc. manually - no difference. I also restarted the dsl modem and the NIC. Running the diagnostic results in "Could not identify the problem".The computer is connected to a local network with additional XP and Vista computers. The XP computer are sharing devices in a home-network and all computers have access to the internet via the same router.

No. As I now have again limited connectivity I cannot get any access. For the short timeframe when I had connectivity the Vista PC was shown on the map but I could not get access.
