LAN Ethernet / Network Adapter missing from Device Manager
HI all, as title suggests, my onboard LAN ethernet adapte4r is no longer showing in Device Manager, it's just dissappeared all of a sudden, was there and working until a few days ago, no hardware changes made, just one day on re-starting shortly after installing Win7 Ultimate x86, the Ethernet Adapter has just been dropped from the system completely. Tried disabling and re-enabling in the BIOS. Tried doing a CLR CMOS Nothing has worked at all. The NIC is an integreated Marvell Yukon Controller, I've got the latest drivers for it, but no hardware being detected by Windows to install, it. All other system drivers are up to date, including mobo chipset. Some other posts relatingto XP and 2003 Server seem to suggest it has something to do with an incomplete Plug and Play register of the OS, and there was a hotfix issued by MS for those OS's but nothing available for Windows 7 as yet...!! I tried the XP hotfix just in case, but it just pops up an error message "Update doesn't apply to current Operating system" etc... Anyone know of anything tha can help..???? Thanks

You must first check to see if the NIC still works (everything dies)You can download a LIVE cd / DVD distro and check the nic. (knoppix is one of the easy ones)
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

HI thanks for your reply, but I solved the problem myself. I downloaded a new BIOS from the mobo manufacturers website, flashed it to the mobo, and the onbaord LAN is working now, somehow my original BIOS must have gotten corrupted by the Windows 7 install, I installed using a USB key, not sure if that had something to do with it, but the only solution was to geta fresh BIOS file from the mobo website, and flash this, as even doing a CLR CMOS of the original BIOS didn't work. But it's all good now..!! Now if only MS would sort a fix out for the Windows Media Sharing Problem, then all would be good, but that one still causes my system to lock up when watching .avi's in MCE, when the Windows Media Sharing Service is enabled..... the WMPnetwork.exe to be exact, I have to have that disabled to allow playback of .avi's in MCE without the system freezing up constantly, and as I use my HTPC to stream to other PC's in the house, its a major PITA for me....!! Thanks again for your suggestion though.
