Keyboard/keystroke operation
Since loading Win 7 RC, I've been noticing some little quirks about the keyboard. It is much more sensitive (same laptop) than previously. Also, I'll be typing along and suddenly, the cursor is off somewhere it shouldn't be, and the most irritating thing is when I'm in an email, trying to do a "reply", (Windows Live email client and Thunderbird act the same), I'll start to type, and suddenly, everything I've typed is selected and then poof, it's gone. This weird keyboard operation can happen in any application at any time. It's happened many times, not just a time or two. Like, fifty times or more. It's definitely a bug in my mind.

Halhack - Er... Could it be your thumbs are hitting the touchpad? I frequently have that kind of problem and it's always a case of my thumb hitting the mouse pad and moving the cursor around - andyes, it drives me NUTS!

I'm getting similar jumps on my desktop, more with the mouse. The curser jumps randomly. Tried different keyboard and mouse with same result.

Halhack - Er... Could it be your thumbs are hitting the touchpad? I frequently have that kind of problem and it's always a case of my thumb hitting the mouse pad and moving the cursor around - andyes, it drives me NUTS! True, the thumbs do occasionally graze the keypad area, but 7 RC must have increased the sensitivity. It never did it with 2K, XP or Vista. Hmmm! And, based on the next response to this post, someone else is having the same problem. I have a Logitech mouse (wireless) and one of the settings for any mouse is to have the cursor jump to the default answer to any querys. Mine does so about 5 or 6 out of 6 times. But occasionally, it doesn't go where it is supposed to jump to and this is new to this OS load. NEVER did it before.I'm saying there's a BUG in 7 RC related to the keyboard, mouse, keypad, etc.

I'm being VERY careful NOT to touch the mousepad and I'm still getting weird jumps and strange shifts into what should be combination keystrokes to achieve (such as being jumped into Find/Replace mode when I did NOT key the Cntl H shortcut, or paragraph indenting when I didn't key Cntl T). It seems to happen when I'm typing quickly. It has only started happening in the last week or so. I'm wondering if it could have been in a patch or that BIOS upgrade or something. It sure is frustrating. It's happening in Word, Outlook, and even Hotmail, so I don't think it's application-related. Any ideas? If some of this is touchpad-related, is there a setting to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad?

Could it be mobile phone related? MY PC does some rather strange things when my mobile phone is on charge on my desktop near my keyboard & mouse :)

I confirm I have the same problem on 2 different computers running under Windows 7: IBM ThinkPad T42 and Lenovo S10. The problem happens randomly under any running application (Word, gmail, Thunderbird, Notepad, etc.). Suddenly the cursor jumps around and typing continues in the new position. I am very careful not to touch the pad. The jumping is independent from the pad touching or incorrect key stroking. Has anybody found a reference for the solution of this problem?
